Student housing finds Stratford home

GCW worked with Unite and developer Westfield, to explore a variety of options for a suitable site for student accommodation which would fit with Westfield’s regeneration plans for the Stratford area. The site adjacent to Westfield Stratford sits on a podium above the National Express bus station and comprises a 25 storey, 940 bed building. The project worked well within Unite’s strategy for developments to be both close to a major transport interchange, Stratford International, and leading educational facilities. 

GCW was able to use its experience of helping the owners of retail assets to bring in alternative uses to sit alongside retail and provide more vibrant destination locations. At the same time, it delivered an effective solution for the accommodation developer.

GCW is currently working with Unite on other university locations in the UK using its retail knowledge and contacts to deliver potential student accommodation as part of larger redevelopment and regeneration projects.
