Northwich's Barons Quay signs up with GCW

The 200,000 sq ft centre is an open streetscape anchored by Asda with a 900 space town centre car park and a five-screen Odeon isense cinema, one of the first in the UK. The centre, which has had a phased opening since September 2016, is built around an existing M&S store.

The scheme has around 20 retail units and six leisure units to let and GCW will work alongside joint agents Brasier Freeth to give the scheme fresh impetus for the next phase. It will use its strong relationship with retailers to build the centre’s profile and reputation in the market.

Barons Quay is located on the River Weaver, in the centre of an affluent Cheshire town.

The public realm is interesting with green areas, seating and interaction with the river, creating a real sense of place for the town.

“This is a very attractive scheme with lots of potential. It provides the town with modern large retail and leisure space, which has not previously been available and a new town car park providing 900 free spaces. We are confident that with creative thinking we can deliver the right tenant mix. There is fresh momentum with the leasing, we have a major fashion anchor signed and a number other units are now under offer” says GCW director Nick Warr.

Local authority, Cheshire West & Chester Council is both the owner and developer and the centre is asset managed by Rivington Land.
