The 330 million pound Rock development in Bury town centre is taking shape. Two years from completion, the scheme is attracting a great deal of interest from retailers and leisure operators.
Marks and Spencer has now signed up to anchor the scheme with a 77,000 sq ft unit which will sit alongside the other 103,000 sq ft anchor Debenhams store and a 20,000 sq ft Next.
Cinema operator Vue has taken 46,000 sq ft for a 10-screen cinema complex. This will be complemented by a 25,000 sq ft AMF bowling alley and eight restaurants.
Following the recent opening of the new 10 million pound link road to The Rock, constructed by Thornfield, April will mark the start of construction for the main scheme. The Rock will deliver a further 60 retail units ranging in size from 500-25,000 sq ft, supported by a 1,250 space multi-storey car park. The retail and leisure elements of the scheme are planned to open in autumn 2010.
