Crosstree Real Estate Partners has begun work on the refurbishment of Edmonton Green town centre, North London. GCW advised St Modwen on the sale of the 495,000 sq ft centre in 2018 and is now working with Crosstree to enhance the asset through a comprehensive investment programme. Crosstree purchased the 26-acre asset for £72 million. The site incorporates over 100 shops and a daily market, together with a medical centre, hotel, leisure centre, library, bus interchange, 754 homes and over 1,000 parking spaces.
The project involves a refurbishment and new lighting, a children’s play area, new welfare and family facilities, together with new branding and way finding to refresh the look and feel of the community centre.
GCW has worked as leasing agent on Edmonton Green for more than 10 years and Crosstree has now instructed GCW and MMX Retail to advise on the future of Edmonton town centre. The team will work on delivering a variety of enhancements to the existing offer, building on the strengths of the existing town and community centre.
The centre already boasts a loyal customer base with over 220,000 visits per week and has a strong vibrant mix of national occupiers including Asda, Boots, Home Bargains, JD Sports, Matalan and Sports Direct. There is also a blend of very successful local independent family businesses which have traded in the town for many years.
Crosstree Principal, Will Dear, said: “We are excited to play our part in the improvement of this community focused retail centre and in the huge opportunity that this 26-acre asset offers. Building on its success as the heart of Edmonton Green, it is crucial that we retain the vibrancy of the scheme and its relevance and close ties to the immediate local catchment.”
